    great bar/bat mitzvah gift

    It occurred to me that a bar mitzvah boy or a bat mitzvah girl should get a present that they can use for the rest of their life. For me, that meant a tzedakah box - blue for a boy and crimson for a girl. The boxes are sturdy, attractive, and practical and come with their own lock. This economical gift can stay with the newly-arrived "adult" for the rest of their life as they participate in a major and basic mitzvah of Judaism.
